Modem Mode

The Modem Mode is designed to perform N-N communication between RS-232C/422 devices by using the Modem Command provided in protocol of CONTEC.

As the Through Mode, with the Modem Mode, the media converter connected to a PC's COM port with RS-232C cable can access the device, that is connected to a media converter located in an other place, via LAN.

Because of accessing the PC's COM ports, Modem Mode doesn't use the driver specific to the media converter.
Please set the media converter with the same communication condition of the PC and the opposing device (such as baud rate, parity and stop bits) using the Setting Utility.

The media converter is identified with the device ID set by using the rotary switch on the device(or the Setting Utility)
Use Modem command protocol and specify the media converter device ID and the opposing device ID to perform communication.

■ The use of Modem Command

The communication under Modem Mode is based on the CONTEC's protocol.
For example, by creating a dedicated program, you can perform the N-N communication cross the network with the device that only equip a RS-232C without LAN interface.
