1. Media Converter has three operation
modes (Virtual COM Mode, Through Mode, Modem Mode).
Please choose the operation mode that best suits
your needs.
2. Switch settings on the hardware device specify the operating mode
and device ID.
For more information, see the reference manual
for each device.
3. Check the power source and capacity.
If the power capacity is exceeded, communication
may not be possible properly.
The power source used and power capacity will vary
depending on the media converter.
For details, refer to the reference manual for
each device.
Also, if you have added a COM port using an
F&eIT I/O module, make sure that the current consumption, including
that of the I/O module, does not exceed the power supply capacity.
If the power capacity is exceeded, communication
may not be possible.

4. Configure and cable your equipment for the desired operating mode.

5. Power on the PC and the media converter.
6. After powering on, start the Setting Utility on the PC and check that the connected media converter is recognized.
The Setting Utility allows you to change the
settings of the media converter.
In addition, the settings made using the Setting
Utility can be retained in the media converter.
The contents stored in the media converter will
remain valid the next time the media converter is powered on again.
7. Check the operation using the sample program.

8. Creating an Application
The procedure for creating an application varies
depending on the development language used.

When distributing an application you have created, we recommend that you install the device driver on each PC.
