Q: Parameter Setting Example with Sample Point Position

A:

Even if the bit rates of the transmitter and receiver of CAN communication match, errors may occur on the receiver.

In this case, set the sample point position so that it is approximately between 60% to 80% of the bit time.
In most cases, the setting between 75% and 80% is recommended.

Here is the formula to calculate "Sample point position".

Sample point position = TSeg1 / (TSeg1 + TSeg2)

For details on each parameter, please also refer to the [CAN Communication Transmission Time] topic.

Note that the setting ranges for TSeg1 and TSeg2 differ depending on the device.
Therefore, we will show parameter setting examples for each device that will set the sample point position to 75%.
