Set and Confirm Device Name

Device Name represented by character string such as "AIO000" is used to access each functions of API-TOOL(WDM).

A Device Name is a name given to a piece of hardware.
This Device Name is used to identify the hardware within application software.

Basically, set and confirm the Device Name in the Device Manager.

However, for Ethernet devices that are accessed from PC via LAN, the way to set the Device Name is different.

How to confirm device name (product model)

  1. Start Device Manger.

  2. All hardware available from the device drivers are registered in the [CONTEC Devices] tree.
    When you expand the [CONTEC Devices] tree, the device name (product model) is displayed.
    ※Depending on the version of the device driver you are using, the Device Name that is pre-registered may be displayed along with the device name (product model).

 

How to set and confirm Device Name

※If you are using a USB I/O Unit–Module Type, the properties screen will be different.

  1. Start Device Manager.
    The installed device is registered under the [CONTEC Devices] tree.

  2. Expand the [CONTEC Devices] tree, select the hardware you want to set and click the right mouse button.
    Then click [Properties] from the pull-down menu.

  3. The properties screen of the selected device is displayed.
    Set the Device Name in [Common Settings] tab.
    Settings in the [Common Settings] tab require administrator (Administrator) authority.

    The Device Name displayed initially is the initial value (default value).
    Change the Device Name if necessary and click [OK].



    ※It is necessary to set the Device Name avoiding repetition when using two or more devices.
     The string length of Device Name is up to 256 single byte characters.

  4. Once the Device Name is registered, you can confirm it along with the device name in the device tree.
