Network Setting

This setting can also be done using a web browser.
For details, please refer to the CPSN-MCB271 Reference Manual (Software).

1. After LAN connecting your PC and CPSN-MCB271, start the CONTEC Device Utility.

2. When CPSN-MCB271 is newly detected, "CPSN-MCB271-XX" is displayed in the "NET" tree.

3. Set the "Setting Items" below and click the "Save" button.
  The device will automatically reboot and the settings will be applied.
  The settings for CPSN-MCB271 are now complete.

4. When a new device (I/O module) inserted in the CPSN-MCB271 series is detected, "(New)CPSN-XX-XXX" is displayed in the "CPSN-MCB271" tree.
  Please perform Device Name Setting for all I/O modules under the "CPSN-MCB271" tree.

 

[Device Information Area]  Displays the information of the selected device

Group ID

Displays the group ID setting value

 

[Setting Items]  You can configure the settings for the selected device

Unit ID

Displays the Unit ID.

IP Address

Set the IP address. *1

Subnetmask

Set the subnet mask. *1

Default Gateway

Set the default gateway. *1
Specify 0.0.0.0 if no setting is required.

Port Open

Specifies to use event notification or sampling function notification.
If unchecked, the event notification or sampling function of the device will not be available.

When checked, the port on the PC side will be released and connections from the device UDP 0X501F will be allowed.
Also, an inbound rule is added in the firewall settings.

After confirming that the device's event notifications are working properly,
please change the Windows OS firewall settings as necessary to adjust the security level to meet the system requirements.

*1  Please set these settings to appropriate values according to your network environment.


Device Name Setting

It is necessary to configure the Network Setting (device settings) for CPSN-MCB271, which will be the master unit in advance.
   Refer to the CPSN-MCB271 reference manual for setting.

1. After LAN connecting your PC and CPSN-MCB271, start the CONTEC Device Utility.

2. When the device is newly detected via CPSN-MCB271, "(New) Model" will be displayed}
   under "CPSN-MCB271" in the "NET" tree, and the temporary device name is displayed in the light yellow "Device Name".

3. Specify the device name in the "Device Name" and click the "Save" button.
   The setting of the device name itself has been completed so far.

4. The configured device is indicated as "[device name] Model", and the device name is displayed in the white "Device Name".

5. If you select this configured device, the "Diagnosis" button will be enabled.
   Clicking this button will start Diagnostic program and check the operation.

6. If you want to change the setting contents, please click "Save" again after changing.

Notes

- If you change the Network Setting such as the IP address, you will need to reconfigure the device name.
  For details, please refer to [Example of changing network settings].

- If you are replacing an existing CPSN-MCB271, the device name can be inherited.
  For details, please refer to [Example of device name inheritance].

 


Firmware Update

CONTEC Device Utility cannot update the firmware for this device.

Firmware update is performed with the web browser.
For details, please refer to the CPSN-MCB271 Reference Manual (Software).
